Basic Information About Academic Programmes
The Faculty of Education educates teachers and other educators. The studies at this faculty are mainly offered on a regular full-time basis. Graduates may seek employment as kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, and/or researchers at educational institutions. The faculty offers bachelor study programmes in Teacher Training - Kindergarten, and School Management. The master study programmes include Pedagogy and Teacher Training - Elementary School. The master study programme in Secondary School Teacher Training comprises the following specialisations: Czech Language and Literature, Music, Chorus Conducting, Instrument Playing, Visual Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Education, Pedagogy, History, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, IT Training, the English, French, German, and Russian languages. A combination of two subjects is required to obtain a Master's degree. The studies at the Faculty are completed by a state examination, part of which is the presentation of a diploma project. Doctoral studies are structured according to individual study plans and under the guidance of a supervisor. They are monitored and assessed by the relevant subject board.

Lifelong Learning
In addition to preparatory courses for applicants and special courses for seniors, the faculty also organises complementary retraining courses in teacher education for graduates from non-teacher study programmes, and extending programmes whereby university graduates can extend their qualification to cover additional subjects. Both these forms of study are only organised on a part-time basis and last three to six semesters.

Admission
The entrance examination has both an oral and a written part. Practical examinations are required for Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Primary School Teacher Education Certificate. Each entrance examination includes an interview. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 3945. The Faculty selected 1399 applicants, i.e., 35,5 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
International students who can study in the Czech language may apply for any type of study programme. Instruction in English is available in Secondary School Teacher Education programme in the following branches: the English and Russian Language, Music Education, Instrument Playing (piano or violin only) and Chorus Conducting. Students are required to choose two branches from those listed above in order to obtain their master's degree. Tuition fees (*) for international students are as follows: - Master study programmes taught in English: USD 4,000 per academic year
