Basic Information About Academic Programmes
The Faculty of Law educates students to be specialists in the field of law. The curriculum of the master study programme is divided into three parts. These three parts lead up to a state comprehensive examination. The first part is theoretically and historically focused and is completed in the first three semesters. There are courses in Roman law, Czech legal history, theory of law, etc. The second part includes civil, commercial and criminal law. The third part includes state sciences: the study of public and juridical disciplines, constitutional law, administrative law, financial law, and international law. In order to enrol in the following part of the curriculum, students must pass an examination covering the proceeding part. Some courses are obligatory, while others are optional. The curriculum also includes language and physical education. A doctoral study programme is provided in six specialisations. The Faculty will send the list of specialisations on request.

Lifelong Learning
Another possibility to study at the Faculty is to take part in short-term courses (including the University of the Third Age). The courses are offered by the Faculty within the framework of life-long education programmes. Graduates from these courses obtain certificates or credits.

Admission
Candidates for admission to the Faculty of Law are required to take a written entrance examination which consists of a general knowledge test and a logics test. The general knowledge test covers Czech history andgeneral cultural and political awareness. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 4399. The Faculty selected 836 applicants, i.e., 19,0 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
Instruction in all study programmes and in life-long education programmes is provided in Czech only. International students who wish to study at the faculty will therefore first need to take a course of Czech language. In accordance with the study and examination regulations of the Faculty, short study visits may be granted to international students.
