Basic Information About Academic Programmes
Faculty of Physical Education and Sport offers bachelor study programmes in Physiotherapy, Physical Education and Work Education for the Disabled, and Physical Education and Sport with Coaching Specialization. Master study programmes at the faculty are of an interdisciplinary nature, combining studies of medicine and physical education so as to ensure that both the theory and practice of physical education are well understood. Teacher Education is organised as a combined two-subject certification study programme. It is usually taught at two faculties, and physical education is combined with one of the following subjects: Biology, Geography, Chemistry (at the Faculty of Natural Sciences), Psychology (at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts), Mathematics (at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics). The programme is only organised in the form of regular full-time studies and lasts five years. In order to graduate, the student must pass a final state examination and present a thesis. The graduates are qualified to teach at secondary schools. In the Physical Education and Sport study branch , the faculty educates students in a broad spectrum of physical education and sports activities. In addition to the courses required, students may also study to become trainers, sports instructors, managers of physical education associations, club and fitness centre specialists, or scientific researchers. In order to graduate, students must pass a final state examination. The regular study programme on a full-time basis takes four years to complete, or five years on a part-time basis. The Sports Management programme has been designed to enable graduates to work in leading positions in organisations and companies in the field of physical education and sport. After passing the final state examination and presenting a thesis, the graduates are awarded the academic degree of master. The programme is available only on a full-time basis. Graduates from the study programme in Physiotherapy are often employed as medical specialists, namely as physical therapists. Graduates in the field of Physical Education and Work Education for the Disabled are qualified to perform various forms of physical, working, dancing and artistic activities for the disabled. The programme is designed for the disabled and for people who work with them. The doctoral study programmes constitute a scientific preparation for theoretical work in physical culture and sports.

Lifelong Learning
The faculty offers preparatory courses for applicants as well as specialized courses for senior citizens and couches.

Admission
Applicants for teacher and non-teacher study programmes in physical education are required to take a practical examination in basic kinds of sports (demonstrating their skills), and also a written examination (general knowledge and logical thinking). The entrance examination for teacher education study programmes combining physical education with education in another subject (e.g. biology) includes a written and an oral examination in second subject chosen. The entrance examination for the Sports Management study programme includes a written test focusing on general knowledge, mathematics and one foreign language. The entrance examination for the study programme in Physiotherapy comprises a written examination in biology and physics, a general knowledge test, and an examination in a foreign language. Applicants for in the Physical Education and Work Education for the Disabled programme are required to take a practical examination in basic kinds of sports and a written examination in biology and general knowledge. In addition to this their practical experience gained through their work in institutions for the disabled is also assessed. Applicants for doctoral study programmes have to demonstrate a good knowledge of English and another international language. Additional materials include a CV, a list of publications, and professional references. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 1479. The Faculty selected 518 applicants, i.e., 35,0 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
The faculty offers all the aforementioned study programmes for international students, in the Czech language. Study programmes of Physiotherapy and Physical Education and Sport are also available in English. All doctoral study programmes are possible to study either in Czech or in English. Tuition fees for international students are as follows: - Bachelor and Master study programmes taught in English: USD 6,300 per academi year - Doctoral study programmes taught in English: USD 6,500 per academic year
