Basic Information About Academic Programmes
The Bachelor's degree programme in Legal Specialisms is designed for practitioners in public administration, social work, the police, trade, industry and other related fields, secondary school graduates and non-law graduates who wish to broaden their knowledge and obtain qualifications in specific areas of law to enhance their career opportunities and advancement. The principal programme of the faculty is the Master's degree programme in Law and Jurisprudence; this programme provides qualifications required for practising law in all legal careers. Graduates, who are fully qualified lawyers, find work in the courts, in prosecutors' offices and in the area of state administration and/or local government, in companies, ministries and other central authorities. The doctoral programme in Theoretical Legal Sciences is designed for law graduates with a Master's degree wishing to pursue academic or research careers.

Lifelong Learning
Several continuing education programmes have been launched for those whose jobs require a basic knowledge of legislation in various fields. They are designed for secondary-school graduates and are taught in Czech.

Admission
The entrance examination at the Faculty of Law at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels consists of a university administered aptitude test designed to evaluate a range of abilities needed for university-level studies. Admission procedures for doctoral programmes are the responsibility of the various individual departments.In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 5628. The Faculty selected 1025 applicants, i.e., 18,2 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
All degree programmes at the Faculty of Law are taught in Czech. However, several individual courses within the Master's programme, selected so as to give international students a basic knowledge of the political system and the system of law in the Czech Republic, are offered in English, French and German. At the doctoral level, accreditation exists in four foreign languages (English, German, French, Polish) in addition to Czech; at the present time, studies for international students are carried out on the basis of individual consultation.
