Basic Information About Academic Programmes
The main focus of the studies at the Faculty of Economics and Administration is to educate experts in economics and governmental administration. Graduates are qualified to work as business and social administrators in state and local agencies, as business and finance managers, and as executives, managers and experts in the public economy, culture, the mass media, education, health and social care. The faculty provides instruction in economics and administrative sciences in various accredited programmes at Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral levels; both full-time and combined forms of study are available. Degree programmes in Economic Policy and Administration and Economics and Management are offered at all three levels. System Engineering and Informatics in only delivered at Bachelor's level; degree programmes in Economic Theories can be studied at Master's and doctoral levels. A unique programme offered by the faculty in cooperation with the University of Rennes I is a two-year Master's degree programme in the field of Public Administration which is taught in French and Czech by teachers from the University of Rennes and Masaryk University. The Bachelor's degree programmes involve both core studies and optional courses; the core curriculum includes subjects that must be taken by every student and are regarded as vital for any economist. The curricula of the Master's degree programmes consist of an obligatory core part that is common for all degree programmes, a second part related to the area of the student's specialisation, and a third part comprising optional courses both as part of the specialization and related to other specialisations.

Lifelong Learning

Admission
The entrance examination at the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the Bachelor's level consists of a university-adminstered aptitude test designed to evaluate a range of abilities needed for university-level studies. Admission procedures for Master's and doctoral programmes are the responsibility of the various departments. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 5138. The Faculty selected 2025 applicants, i.e., 39,4 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
All degree programmes at the Faculty of Economics and Administration are taught in Czech. However, each semester ten individual courses are offered in English, and two in German; these are suitable for students at the upper Bachelor's or Master's level. At the doctoral level, individual consultation is offered in English.
