The Faculty offers the following study programmes and awards the following degrees: - Bachelor Study Programmes After the state final examination: "bakalář" (i.e. "Bachelor"), abbreviated as "Bc." - Master Study Programmes After the state final examination: "magistr" (i.e. "Master"), abbreviated as "Mgr." After the state "rigorous" examination: "doktor přírodních věd" (i.e. "Doctor of Natural Sciences"), abbreviated as "RNDr." - Doctoral Study Programmes After the state doctoral examination: "doktor" (i.e. "Doctor"), abbreviated as "Ph.D."

Basic Information About Academic Programmes
In bachelor study programmes the Faculty educates students in environmental care, plant biotechnologies and biomedical laboratory techniques. Students who wish to proceed to a master degree in any biological discipline may also participate in a bachelor study programme tailored as preparation for a master study programme. The Faculty offers master study programmes and doctoral study programmes covering virtually the whole range of biological sciences. The Faculty employs scientists from research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences as part-time teachers.

Lifelong Learning

Admission
Applicants are required to have completed their secondary school education. All applicants must pass an entrance examination in biology and chemistry. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 795. The Faculty selected 479 applicants, i.e., 60,3 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
The Faculty provides all bachelor study programmes for foreign students in the Czech language only. Master study programmes (with one exeption of Clinical Biology in the Biology programme) as well as all doctoral study programmes are also offered in English.
