Basic Information About Academic Programmes
Humanities The study programme consists of courses in three main areas: philosophy, ethics and religious science, and they are complemented by courses in psychology, sociology, theology, history and theory of culture. Graduates are prepared to work in public and private areas as well as to continue graduate studies. Pastoral Assistance Graduates from the bachelor study programme are prepared for pastoral ministry in parishes (leadership of administrative work and organisation of religious, cultural and educational programmes) as well as in public and private services (in pastoral and social areas). Graduates from the master study programme (post-bachelor study programme) are prepared for independent organisational and educational work, in church and in society. In church, assistants lead the Christian, cultural and educational programmes implemented in the parish. In society, they lead cultural and educational programmes and focus particularly on teaching activities (communal, and in the army and police). Religious Education and Ethics Graduates are prepared for work in parishes or in church (leadership and organisation of educational activities for children, young people and adults). They are also prepared to continue their studies and study the Teacher of Religion and Ethics master study programme (post-bachelor study programme). Teacher of Religion and Ethics This master study programme (post-bachelor study programme) prepares its students for work as teachers of religious and ethical education at all types of school (primary and secondary public schools as well as denominational schools). They are also prepared to teach in parishes. Social and Charity Work The study programme prepares students for work in church and state charitable organisations. Graduates are able to work independently and professionally in a wide variety of social and public areas: social, medical, psychiatric institutions, Probation and mediation services as well as in public administration. Theology The faculty prepares specialists for work in religious public relations, for priesthood, and for work as teachers of theology. Systematic Theology Graduates are prepared to continue academic work and teaching or to do expert work related to church and social life. Theological Anthropology and Ethics Graduates are prepared for independent work in the field of research, publication and academic activities.

Lifelong Learning


Admission
Application forms must be submitted to the study administration department of the faculty no later than on March 15th. The entrance examination takes place in the middle of June. It consists of a psychological test, a test of general and religious knowledge, and an interview. In 2009/2010, the number of applicants to the Faculty was 613. The Faculty selected 298 applicants, i.e., 48,6 % of the candidates, for admission.

Information for Foreign Students
The Faculty offers all the aforementioned study programmes for foreign students in the Czech language only. It is possible to study doctoral study programmes in German. The cost of studies is 4,000 EUR per academic year.
